Zweben, Stuart

Biography

I'm Professor Emeritus of Computer Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University, after having served on its faculty for over 35 years. I chaired this department from 1994-2005. I also served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Administration in the College of Engineering at Ohio State from 2006-2011.

I am a fellow and former president of ACM (The Association for Computing Machinery), a fellow and former president of The Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB), and a fellow of ABET. I've served on the governing bodies of ACM, ABET, and the  Computing Research Association (CRA).

I chaired ABET's Accreditation Council from 2009-2011 and chaired ABET's Computing Accreditation Commission from 2007-2008. I have done consulting for many universities world-wide on accreditation-related matters and assisted multiple accrediting organizations from other countries in becoming signatories to international mutual recognition agreements related to accreditation.

I continue to chair CRA's Survey's Committee, which conducts the annual Taulbee Survey of Ph.D.-granting computer science and computer engineering departments in North America, and am responsible for the reporting of the survey's results. I also currently lead an ACM project to provide data to the computing community about enrollment and retention in U.S. computing programs.

My research interests are in software engineering and computer science education.
